Weldon Fuel pump Question

Looking to see if any one on here has any feed back about there marine style fuel pumps. Thanks

No personal experience however they look like a nice stout pump. I was just reading up on pumps last week contemplating going electric but think I convinced myself to stay with the mechanical baker pump for my 900-950 SC's. I think they rate them a tad higher however as you know plumbing can bring many gph issues.

Aeromotives are ones that seem to be used frequently but I read a lot of great, good, bad and indifferent. Hopefully someone will chime in with actual usage of the Weldon but that would be my first pick if going electric.

Magna Fuel or Weldon. I run Magna Fuel with no fuel pump controller for the past few years with no problems.

Magna is the other one I was trying to think of that speed shop uses down state that I know well. All they use only cause no failures I would assume.

we run the continuous duty pumps on a few 1000-1200hp engines.3-8yrs and still running strong.plus they are rebuildable.

You left out the brand dummy :) WELDON

Might want to look into the new style Weldon in line its quiet. Or run the standard Weldon. They are aircraft quality pumps and Mercury uses them also. The flow don't fall much when psi goes up.

Been running Weldon pumps in boats since 1997, 2015, 2025, 2345, with Weldon regulators, no issues unless filters get clogged.

Back in the day (20 years ago) we use to run Weldon on all the big HP cars that we would build. Weldon pumps are rated for aircraft use, that might tell you something. You cant have a fuel pump fail in the sky. I run one of their regulators in the street car. Its dead nuts accurate. Had to replace a diaphragm in the regulator because the alcohol in the fuel cracked the rubber.

I run the Weldon 1100-a pumps on just about everything. Have nothing bad to say about them.

Just asking " no issues unless filters get clogged " what filters and if any filters that are getting clogged to restrict fuel flow -- one has possible some major issues with and how any filters become clogged.

Think what he is saying it will burn the motor up on the pump when the filter gets clogged. I have bin there also. Kinsler makes a mega monster filter with a built in check valve huge compared to the smaller filters.

I understand that no matter of the fuel pump. I thought he was having problems with his fuel filters getting clogged and more than once. But maybe he was making general statements about getting filter clogged. But again that holds true for any fuel pump.

They are fantastic pumps, run forever with plenty of volume and pressure, the only ones I found to feed 8 to 1500 hp. We had 1 burn up because of water going through the filter, it swelled up the cellulose element and caused enough restriction to fry the motor. This was NOT a bad pump just an unfortunate situation. The filters were Weldon pre and after filters. They recommended using the Ramco filter / separator, no problem since. I'm sure any pump would have failed under those circumstances.

I hear you and totally understand - Just saying on my part, I sell the Weldon 1100 pump more than any other version for non stock apps and its the FST filters since they bought out Ramco about 4 years ago. I sell that as well. About 35 to 40 of those filters per year. Matter of fact, I just cut open a FST filter yesterday from a customers boat using the weldon 1100 pump and the past week was talking to the owner of weldon -- Jim C in person...

I totally understand and no matter of anyones engines and fuel pump installed - if one is clogging fuel filters - one has contamination issues hugely of their fuel system. I would address that issue ASAP. Not only will it hurt fuel pumps but cause lean conditions for the engine(s) in short order.

Merc Racing engines use this same FST filter as well. OEM stock install from Merc racing.

Also thanks for the reply and your time posting.
