496 fuel tank requirements
as always i appreciate any and all input
does the fuel tank for the 496 require a return ?
could a second p/u mounting hole be used as a return ?
the template is made, double checking all other dimensions and working on a drawing.
need to send off dimensions to get quotes and pick a builder (like to start calling today)
thanks

IIRC early Merc 496 fuel systems utilized a return setup. The later gen 3 cool fuel setup does not have a return. Use one of these and no tank fabrication is required......

I would install a place for a return line whether you need it now or not. I would also use 1/2" pick up tubes.
They might not be needed now, but things could change in the future.

good advice, thank you.
don't know why i didn't put the serial number in first post. 496 mag ho, serial owo60640
spoke to tank company today and waiting on final drawings to check off, and get it going
2, 1/2 pick ups with anti -syphon valves are a go.
that spliced in return is the way i'd go if needed, but fill / vent is at front of tank.
don't see why it wouldn't work like that
thanks again
