Default How can you check if your getting exhaust water revision?

Aside from the obvious hydrolock symptoms is there a method to see if revision is happening when there are no running issues?

if you’ve run the motors long enough...can always pull manifolds and look for signs of water on valves and ports. They will show signs of rust/corrosion if you have an issue.

Engine is not even installed yet. Just figured there might be a telltale sign or something to check.
Probably best to find it sooner than later.

Steam coming out of exhaust on start-up and idle is one sign.

if you have a riser style exhaust you can pull both risers off after running for a tad. See if water has collected down in the exhaust side of the exhaust manifolds internally . Look at the lowest point and in the corners of the exhaust manifold internally,

Or you can pull spark plugs and examine them for small water droplets --- plus crank the motor over to see if water or a mist spray of water comes out of the spark plug holes. I would unhook the fuel pump(s) and ignition side as well before cranking the engine over.

My GMC Sierra has water and steam running out the tailpipe when I first start it up. I'm 87% certain there is no reversion there : )

Yeah? Well I had a 496 boat that was steaming out the exhaust on the lake after starting up with engine still warm and it would continue to steam while idling. Finally the water showed up in the oil. Engine ran great. Pulling the exhaust revealed that the inner sleeves had been cut down to improve flow to the divertors on the Q&Q exhaust. We are talking about boats and not GMC Sierras.

condensation forming in the exhaust can do this as well. (steam) also cool out outside air with a certain amout of humidty. On marine exhaust condensation builds on the internal walls of the exhaust until they get warmed enough to burn that off. Thats one of the reasons for the tubulator riser / manifold gaskets is to collect condensation in the dam portion then have it burn off when its gets hot enough.
