Crower Cams?
I am not having much luck finding an aftermarket cam for my engine, it looks like I will have to put a replacement Crower in it.
Is Crower a good quality cam to use or should I keep looking? |
Thats what I run in a twin turbo 689 HP small block. I also run there hydrolic roller lifters. They were very helpfull in finding the right cam for my application.
good luck;) |
Crower makes a good cam. They have slower ramp speeds than some of the other cam manufacturers which will bring horsepower down a few numbers----BUT slower ramp speeds are much easier on the valve train, i.e. springs, lifters, etc.
I have Crower cams installed in my engines. That's one view point. :) |
Crower Cams are for millies. I just had to say that KAAMA.:D
|
I have used Engle for turbo cams
|
Come on Mark you got one of every cam ever ground!!!!
|
Crower makes a good cam. I would talk with Steve Tanzy @Erson, he really knows his stuff and has helped several friends of mine with cam selection, etc.
|
i used comp cams products and have not had any problems. i buzz one of there hyd roller setups 6500 rpm all the time. good stuff see ya:D

crower
i have been running crower for a long time ,boats and cars. had one in the street/drag car solid roller sb chevy went 8000 miles on the race lite weight tappets.verry durable.reused the cam andput in new tappets, they are prob the highest price out there they do have diffrent ramp profiles.one thing about crower unlike other cam manf. they use no import stuff. . reed oliver and jerry are pretty sharp or dave crower , dave is real short on the phone though.call 18002222267 0r tech at 619-422-1191.
i had good luck on the billet rods and cranks the 358ci in my 70 chevelle at 4040lbs with me in it,i was shooting up to 475hp of NOS on a plate and fogger when we were street racing the car. never had any failures or nocking the bearrings out of it. but did burn a few pistons. |
Thrillseeker, what cam was in the engine and what is the engine application? Do you happen to know the specs of the old one or have the part number stamped on the old cam??
