do you guys put anything in your boats to keep the moisture out?I bought some chemical stuff from West Marine before and was'nt impressed....someone told me charcoal works??????

I have been using oil dry the last few years and Bounce sheets to keep critters out.

I use a product called Damp-Rid. Works well for me, no mildew after a winter wrapped up in a waterproof tarp. Put a canister in the cockpit, one in the cuddy, and one in the engine compartment.

You can get it at Wal-Mart, Target etc. I think I have even seen it in grocery stores.

I use "damp-rid" or "humi-dry". As Faster said, i put one in cabin,
one in cockpit and one in engine compartment. Works great and have no moisture problems. Boat still smells new when opened up in spring. Buy it at discount stores.

Kitty litter or charcoal work great.........and cheap

I've used a container of Damp-Rid in the cabin (sink) and leave it drain right out , along with a couple of anti mildew bags (look like Shell no pest strips). Put another Damp-Rid bucket on dash and one in engine compartment. Shrink wrapped with four vents.
No Problems:cool: Mon

We've used damp rid for years, works good for us. Boats only sit up a couple of months down here, but humidity is usually 80% + year round.

Boy , That ain't no lie. I was in New Orleans in July WOW. The only time I was dry all week , was in the hotel room at night:rolleyes:

I use Damp-Rid in my cruiser, it works great. Charcoal is better suited for odor eating duty.
