we tie a special string fish when pulling out and then tie that fish to the new cable. The string fish I have is old timer stuff that telephone installers used to tie down and fish cables in the central offices were all the big phone equipment was installed including later on fiber optics installs. It is waxed coated string and strong as hell, leaves no marks period. Glides very easily and does not cut into stuff compared to if one would use fishing line as a fish. Works great and does not tear up stuff like a metal wire fish does.

Thanks I will look when I get home tonight what would be the best cables to replace them with I seen on here some people said to stay away from the 33c cables and go with the teleflex just wondering which last the longest only run in lakes and rivers no sea water

33c or 3300 is the type of cable ends on the cables, Teleflex is fine, there's an extreme one also I think it has tighter bend radius characteristic's ?

I used the TFXtreme ( Teleflex Exteme)

Fishing the cable through was no big deal. Getting it connected to the indicator through an 18" x 24" hole behind the dash was the difficult part.
