New 548 builds, AK Racing heads
I am building a pair of new 548's for an Eliminator cat and going to use the AK Racing CNC'd heads for the first time. Standard deal 9.5-1 compression, looking for 700hp around 6000rpm. They will have Holley EFI with 2000cfm throttle bodies. As always, there has been a lot of discussion on camshaft selection. The camshafts that came out of these engines are 242/252 .640/.629 on 114 custom Comp grind. I am seriously considering reusing them as I believe that they are pretty close to what I need, but it appears that they are ground on cast iron cores, which concerns me a little. I will post head flow #s with Al's permission. If anyone has a better grind in mind, I am all ears. Engines will be dyno'd. Exhaust is the Gil offshore manifolds with 5" tails, semi dry.

How old are the cams? I'd reuse them if I knew the history of them and feel confident. What brand and what makes you think they are cast?
I'd hope he would want you to post the flow #'s, out of box and after ported. They are a tool to the whole build. Are they CNC machined? I'm also curious to the #'s, there are a few sets at the shop that are going on builds.

Why settle for scared, when ya can be scared sh*tless!!! as my tagline states!!!
My heads aren't the cheapest out there, but they're run ready (except fitting guideplates), my heads include Comp series studs and adjustable guideplates these are necessary for perfect rocker arm tracking, so I include them.
