Cam bearing material?
Getting my machining done and need to install new call bearings what's better material to go with, babbit or Silicon aluminum (Si)?
My spring pressures are 160/400, 1.7 rockers, 629/612 lift. Thanks |
I would go babbit think its better for dirt
|
So the general consensus is babbit and not aluminum silicon?
|
Dart blocks come with babbit. Just use durabond bearings they are probably the best.
|
Ok durabondbond babbits it is, thanks Apache

I will second the Durabonds. That is all I use.
|
I just bought/used 2 sets of Durabond myself.
|
Are you also using durabonds on the rods and mains over clevite or king or are you just using them on can bearings?

Durabond does offer a "coated" option if your going have it sitting for a while with spring pressures on the cam.
Had a cam bearing spin once because of this. |
