Hit a snag in my build..need help asap
Just got word from the engine builder that my stock 525 sc valve covers...the blue aluminum ones will not fit on the dart iron eagle heads I have...They said the gasket surface on the valve covers doesn't line up to the head sealing surface...
What are the least expensive options I have here?? this is about the last piece of the puzzle and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on valve covers if I don't have to.... thanks |

never heard that one before.... I have heard height problems, drip nib interference etc, but never the base being different...
Call Dart?? they should know what fits if their heads are odd shaped |
Yea I guess there’s no flat casting on the inside/rocker side of the mounting bolts...that is where the gasket/o-ring sits on the Merc covers and I need some where the gaskets sits on the outside of the mounting bolts if that makes sense?? Would standard cheap covers off like ebay clear the exhaust?? I have cmi headers...over 200 bucks is a hard pill to swallow for valve covers lol |
Run a regular gasket with a steel core on the head and keep the O ring gasket in the valve covers and put it on top of the other gasket.
Something like this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/f...make/chevrolet |
So basically just stack the gaskets?? Have you tried this?? I'm only asking so I don't spend the money on these gaskets to have it not work...I guess I could use the gaskets regardless on new covers if it doesn't work

Man, not to rain on your parade, but if your building a blower motor and stressing over the cost of valve cover gaskets, life is going to get ugly.
