Need plastic elbow for 99 454 mag efi flame arrestor
I tried to remove the valve cover breather hose from the flame arrestor and broke the plastic elbow that is glued on to it. Anyone know where I can get one? It looks like Mercury does not sell it separately. It is just glued to a plastic tube coming out of the side of the flame arrestor.

I have one that is broke too and have looked for several years. Never found a part number for it. I've always intended to fab one by drilling the arrestor and screwing or gluing in a 90* elbow.

Yea. It would be nice to figure out the part for it instead of paying $180 for a new one.

I modified some Pex fittings I got at menards. I filed off the little tab on the arrestor so it was just round. I then cut down the threaded side of the fitting. The inside diameter of the threaded end was a little small to fit on the flame arrestor nipple so I reamed it out to with a die girder and Dremel tile bit so it would fit but still be tight. |
done the same and used black gasket adhesive sealer on the threads. -- also have used a grommet sized correctly and very snug fitted hose
|
I'm not using the threads at all. That fitting just had the closest inside diameter. It is just pressed onto the nipple like the OEM one was.
It will pull it off like the OEM but will not fall off. The marks on inner diameter are from the tile bit |
Thanks! That's just what I needed. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Do you have to put a clamp on the hose or is the fit snug enough?
