500 EFI PS pump bracket
Anybody know if there is a bracket to mount the PS Pump to a 500 EFI? I have the bracket for the reservoir, but from what I've researched, there's no bracket for the actual pump. I gotta be missing something stupid, any help?

Anybody able to post of pic of how their oil filter bracket and power steering pump mount to their 500 EFI?

There is no bracket for the pump. The bracket on the port front of the engine that mounts the alternator has 2 drilled and treaded holes (3/8 x 16). There are 2 studs that mount there, The pump has 2 holes in it and slides on over them retained by 2 (3/8 x 16) nylon lock nuts. There is a separate mounting bracket for the reservoir, of which mercury made 2 designs. You can also use a Latham reservoir but you will need one with a fill to the pump and the return goes back to the reservoir. You can google Mercury parts catalog on line for a breakdone of the parts. The kit is NLA from Mercury, but many of the parts are still available.

Thank you!! I do remember seeing threaded holes on the alternator bracket. I googled merc's parts listings and diagram. I saw the studs, but wasn't sure where they went. Thank you again!!
I have the factory mount for the reservoir, I have the fork style... seemed like I needed the oil filter bracket ( which is N/A) to mount the reservoir bracket. It also seems I needed that oil filter bracket to mount the idler pulley bracket on my port motor, which doesn't have the PS Pump. |
The same 2 holes work for the idler pulley bracket only bolts instead of studs. Bracket p/n:849297t1 bolts 3/8-16 X 3.375". they are on the alternator mounting page of manual. Also the 496 takes the same p/s reservoir.

After looking further, I do not have the OEM alternator brackets, which is where the confusion was. OEM brackets are ordered. StuphenL30, thank you for your help.
