procharger questions

IM THINKING OF PURCHASING A PAIR OF M1 PROCHARGERS AND WAS WONDERING IF ANY ONE HAS PUT A PAIR ON A 94 290OS BAJA WHAT KIND OF SPEED GAINS CAN I EXPECT. THE BOAT HAS 454 MAGS CARB TYPE, 150.1R 23P ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. LOT OF CASH IS IT WORTH IT.

Check Out Procharger's Website

www.procharger.com you should see gains upwards of 10 MPH with minimal boost. The boat I just bought ran a M1 for 4 years on a stock 7.4 mercruiser with no problems. Engine has since been modified with forged crank, pistons, rods and a roller cam set up. Pushing over 650 HP.

Done right, it cannot be beat for easy power & speed. It is required (by me of course) to send your carb to Dean Nickerson to be reworked. This alone will improve the overall experience immeasurably!! No soot, great power, improved economy (for real), instant starts (as good as injection!!_)
Do it... but ask questions HERE not at Procharger!:D

Elite Marine 10-25-2002 05:50 PM

Formula is right.

Ask your questions here. I have heard of Procharger giving erroneous information and guys sucking valves, burnig pistons, etc...

You can't beat the gains made for the $$$ spent though.

Not tring to change your mind but I would also consider looking into Whipple.

Pantera24-650 has a point about Procharger and erroneous information. Remember cost isnt everything, think about reliabilty, customer service and other things. Just because it is cheaper now, doesnt mean it wont cost you more down the road.

Dustin, "Whipple Charged" is here on the board and has been a big help to many people. Just look at this post:

He will always be here if you have a question.

Friend down the steet has a 1996 454 330hp stock.
We put a procharger on over 400 Hrs ago. still running great!!:D

I have a 502 mag mpi with almost 200 hrs trouble free procharger. Only had to replace head gasket at 98 hrs, but thats to be expected. The stock mer gaskets are junk.

I agree with everyone on the "keep your questions here and not call procharger direct." they use to have 2 good guys that new what there talking about, but I don't know where they went???? Take blown formulas advice on the carb setup;)

To bad you didn't have the newer MPI 454.
