Bravo One vs. Bravo One Diesel
What are the differences if any between the two just gear ratio? These are the old Bravo One drives not newer stuff. I’m looking at a boat that has a big block gas motor but diesel out drive. Thanks |
I’m fairly sure the diesel drive is an X drive with a steel tower insert to handle the extra torque. |
I believe the lower is longer on a B2 than a B1

When I was racing in Factory-1, I had my Bravo-1 re-built using diesel gears. I was told the gear set was stronger than the original. I learned that, as stated above, not sure about the X drive, but thought this is what later became known as the Bravo XZ drive.

Currently the diesel drives are all X or XR's. The only difference between the diesel version and a standard X is there are a few ratios not offered in the gas version. Aside from that if you take the time to compare all the rest of the component part numbers the only thing that changes is the decal.
Can you get the serial number off the drive? I can check and see what it is. Genuine Mercury & Mercruiser parts. Sterndrive Unit Chart, Bravo I-II-III X (Diesel) http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s...30982/11296/20 http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s...30996/11406/20 |
Thanks for the replies I’ll be back to the boat Thursday and try to get more info and serial # |
