Bravo-1 lube in water intake again.

Had lower removed to have seals replaced and 2 weeks later and about 5hrs runtime it's leaking again. I had a very knowledgeable shop do the repair. I'm looking for ideas on what's wrong and would like to see photos of what causes the leak. How does the lube get into the water intake? 1997 B1 and will relay info to shop.

thanks

Lower
Lowered and I attached photos. My guess it's the small O-ring/seal next to the water intake area. But the shop stated may have issue with casting being porous or cracked. lower housing. I'm going to take a closer look Thursday. Open to suggestions...

thanks

Assuming the shop got the correct shim stack and the alum spacer back in correctly for the vertical shaft bearing.

Is this a dual water pickup lower? Ive had the puck in front of the forward driven gear come unseated and leak gear lube out the nose cone water pickup holes before. The puck has a pretty small press fit and is separating the oil from the water paths

No, just has the side water intakes...

There should be a flat orange o-ring around the oil port that is in the edge of the water passage. maybe I am just not seeing it in the pics??? That is what seals the oil from the water.

One of the O rings is not sealing. Its that simple.. Now it needs to be determined why its not sealing.

What I found was the grooves had paint in them(SEI lower) which from my years of working on cars the grooves should be clean. If that's the cause only time will tell after putting back together. Also the orange seal was black. And... I ordered the Mercury OEM seals too and will have if I need to take apart next time.

Thanks for the help.

All back together and going to run the next 2 days and then recheck for leaks. But, I'm not a lucky person so I feel the SEI drive has casting issues and I have attached a photo looking up which shows no leaks after setting 24+hrs. without starting engine. Former owner also had same issue and replaced the same seals(before I purchased boat) and my shop and myself also replaced too. What are my options for replacing the lower unit(OEM) and wondering if I would see any benefit going with a IMCO shorty? Stingray 230SX 502MAG. Current transom number is 0K239899 so what would be the Mercury part number and what else is needed to replace the unit?https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0694b0b25a.jpg
