DCB F32 700SCi Water Pressure Issue

Hey everyone!

To keep this fairly brief, my F32 this season is showing low water pressure on the port engine. The raw water pumps were replaced when both motors were pulled this past winter for the top ends to be gone through.

Water pressure is trending between 15-22psi. I've been told by "experts" that "the NXT pickup needs to go away", I just don't agree with that since the boat has been fine up until this point. This water pressure issue started happening after the motors went back in this spring. The starboard engine is just fine and showing water pressure in the range it always has.

I'm searching for some ideas or possible items that I have over looked! Any input is appreciated as this has been a huge annoyance this entire season.

Did you happen to put the larger intercooler fittings on while the engines were out?

Yes, the larger fittings went on. These motors ran almost identical pressures last season though, and both motors received the same work this winter. I feel that both would experience a similar loss in pressure for the same modification to the intercooler circuit efficiency gain.

Do you have a strainer with pressure relief? Make sure that is adjusted correctly. Also verify your gauge is correct...you could be chasing a ghost.

Sincerely appreciate the advise, I just ordered a new water pressure sensor and I will put a mechanical gauge on it to verify. I have not checked the pressure relief this season (this is such a duh and I flat out overlooked it!) I will check that as well, thank you again!

After I had larger fittings put on the IC's, my water pressures are different too (than last year). I don't believe I have pressure relief valves, but I've not pulled hoses to confirm that. I did close off one of my overboard dumps about 1/3 closed, which corrected my WP issue - but I'd rather that not be the solution.

So did you fix your water pressure issue?

My 32 would do this, but only when overtrimmed. Most 32 owners installed Teagues adjustable pickup for notched transoms. I had gone through the pains of getting water pressure on my 34 adjusted and just preferred not to over trim instead of the rerig which is a PITA in that boat.
