I bought a $10 Electric fuel pump off of amazon to empty the 80 gallons of gas that was in the tank and that thing was a champ. This so far has been a waste of cash and time.

With SOME of the mechanical fuel pumps --- once you break away the diaphragm seal from the pump it is worthless ..

Just some other info --- the size of the needle and seat in the carb can effect fuel pressure -- higher or lower depending on size . fuel pressure regulators is always a good idea.

plumbing, fuel filters . micron ratings also fuel set ups of routing / fittings / diameters and fuel lines can effect fuel pressure.

Also Longer runs (length ) of fuel lines can decrease pressure.

So, no carb is attached. The beauty of this thing is that it’s suppose to self regulate. It’s 3’ of line to the tank. The $10 Electric pump pulls fuel just fine. It’s common to use a better lower on the stock upper so why wouldn’t the rubber diaphragm seal back up? Try a sealer on it?

I was just short jisting info about fuel pressure for carb engines using mechanical pumps. What I was saying has nothing to do with pumping out fuel from tanks to empty them,

For sealant one has to use it for gas and Ethanol fuels to maintain a seal and acid free so it does not attack rubber and soft metals - alot of sealants are not rated for ALL THAT.

The pump is actually only sold as the bottom half for this purpose. I’m looking into gasganinch to help seal it, reassemble, and give it one more shot.

I used Permatex Aviation gasket sealer as I have that laying around and used the process lined out in post #12 and give that a shot and will report the results. Thanks BUP.

After trying everything with zero luck I stuck the 15 year old Holley back on and it pumped like a champ. $300 in parts and fittings and worthless.
