502 mag light smoke
Good afternoon everyone. To start off I would like to say this is my first time using a forum like this other than reading what other people have wrote so please do not bash me for my question. So I have a 2001 Baja 272 with a 502 mag right under 400 hours. This boat runs great idols great seems flawless in my eyes but I noticed light smoke coming from exhaust after running on the water. It eventually dies down and goes away but is always there after I'm under power. Thermostat says 160 and both risers seem so am I cool to the touch. Please help me figure out what may be the cause of this |
Don't see an issue, motor will always have some steam and after a run the motor is a tad hotter then just idling around. If the air temp is colder you will see more, warmer, will see less

Sounds like valve stem seals. Mine were at the top of the stem before I redid my heads. These were stock 088 heads. A compression test wouldn't be a bad idea as well.

ok, even when it was 100 degrees out it was the same as when it was 90. As far as valve stem seals, if they go bad is that going to cause major damage, is this something that can be checked or diagnosed? This weekend plan was to dona compression check

It is definitely between gray and white, will a compression test lead to the diagnosis of this? |
@ 400 hrs it could possibly start using a little oil, can you tell if its coming out both banks ? Id do a leak down test and keep an eye on the oil level
