Quality forged 4.25 stroke crank
Looking at basic forged cranks in 4.25 or possibly 4.375 stroke for a 496 build. They seem to be around 750ish bucks. Any other brands i should look at beside callies, scat, eagle?
Actually gonna be in a street/strip engine 600 to 650ish horse, maybe 6500rpm. Havent ironed out exact details. I know they rate cast steel cranks to like 700 horse for a third the price but i think i will go forged. Thanks |
Lunati Voodoo, Crower's nice.

Id spend the extra and get the Callies, been the scat route before and it was a PITA to get balanced.......Lunati and Crower are nice also

Opinions will vary a bunch which is fine as I'm sure individuals will recommend what they've had good luck with. I would imagine there are a ton of scats and eagles running out there without issues in your hp range plus..... For a NA application I personally would look into the Lunati voodoo as gpm mentioned otherwise the Callie's compstar. When I checked with my machine/speed shop for my builds they recommended the compstar as they've used on many decent power yet budget builds. Higher HP SC builds I'd tend to stick with US forged only yet again there are still plenty of overseas forged 4340 cranks finished in the US with good luck. The snouts in higher SC HP builds can become a week point. There's molnar and K1 also. I ended up with compstar and checked out perfect. You can do a lot of reading on different forums. Regardless my recommendation would be to purchase one that is finished by a reputable well known US crankshaft company. There is Ohio crankshaft also however I've personally heard of a few of them brake. Good balancing on rotating assemble is cruicial no matter what you end up with. |
