Not worth fooling with a used one. It should probably be magnafluxed and resized and by the time you do that the new ones from GM end up about the same price. Pretty sure the part number is 19170198 Summit has them in stock for $138

I wouldn't mix rods, weight could be several grams different

that's what I was thinking. didn't want to mix them up. I cant seem to find them anywhere though....I called my local gm dealer and he didn't really know crap. said he could get a rod for 7.4 which I believe is the same but didn't have a picture to tell me if its a dimple rod or not. are the dimple rods a factory thing or??

What size rod bolts ? How old is your engine ? I have used that rod several times in the last two years to replace 502 rods and as far as I remember it was identical.

I just looked in my 0ld 2005 GM book and I think the rod you want is 10198922 but I dont think it is available anymore unless you can find someone that has one on E-bay etc. Jegs says they can ship it but Summit says not available. More than likely the other number is the replacement.

Yes the 10198922 is what I have now. I see the discontinued them. the replacement looks a little different though. think its ok to replace just one rod with the new style? any kind of weight issues?

my rod bolts now are 7/16" and when I ran the numbers on the motor it came up as 96+ gen 6 I believe.

I believe the GM rods are made in China now, if you're going that route you might want to look at the Scat 4340,

I bought a set of 8 rods and pistons from him for 2 bones. Only used 2 of them so i have a few good take out rod and piston complete assy if needed also

take all 8 rods and weigh them,none will be the same,gm balances on a go-no go system.

the way I understood it, the OP was asking about mixing a non dimple rod with 7 dimple ones

something weird going on,i got the box i sent the rod in back today,the box was empty but still taped up like i sent it.the name and address were marked over.

Who was the carrier ?? had a friend send two ( 2 ) cams to TCM in Cali, two boxes tapped together, 1 cam in each box, when they arrived two boxes still taped together but only 1 cam, someone cut it open took the cam and taped it up,,,,,,UPS UPS UPS

i will go to the post office i sent it from monday in an attempt to find out what happened to the missing rod.
