Tool room springs and spring oilers update.
New 2014
250hrs plus.. .632lift cam.(crane 651) Springs only lost 15# of pressure.. Since most springs come 25# or more than rated on spec sheet these are still above the spring rate I need. I`m reusing them, just saved me a bunch of money, head guy was surprised, he thought they`d be out the door for sure. I give the tool room spring and spring oilers a big thumbs up. Keeping them cool seems to be the ticket ... Now I can get a 15lbs turkey instead of the 12#er. #winning! :lolhit: |
all our race motors had spring oilers. at 7800 rpm I am sure that helped keep them alive. back in the day everyone ran restrictors to limit the upper end oil with solids. I never thought that was a good idea with the abuse the valve train goes thru. I always felt that if the oil going to the top end was starving the bottom end then you needed a better oil system.
