Oil priming
Almost got the new motors done and need to prime the motors. I have hardin thermostatic remote filter heads. Do i just fill cooler and lines with oil then prime at distributor? What direction and rpm should i run the drill at? Any suggetions welcome.

Pull the starboard valve cover off and spin the primer the same direction as the distributor which would be clockwise. You’ll need a 1/2” drill strong enough to run a minute or two and when you see oil coming over the top of the rockers then you’re good to go. |
If you have an oil fill cap in the valve cover you could probably watch in there, might want to prime it long enough to push all of the air out of the system.

If this is a hydo lifter motor Id relash the valves after priming, priming will pump the lifters solid,,,,,,jmo
