What am I looking at here
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f534bb451.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...393c2ccf6.jpeg This is a picture of the front port side motor mount. i assume that the motor mount is bolted straight down into the stringer, but cannot figure out why the stringer appears so wide. is the wood that I see there directly under the motor mount plywood that is over the stringer? thanks, Russ |
A wooden boat 4 sure, The motor does mount to the outside mounts but make sure someone did not have the LAG bolts go thru the bottom of the hull. Hard to tell the depth from mounts to bottom of hull

here is the mounts and then do your engine alignment
You will need the engine side mount brackets in the parts diagram from the link below I just picked a big block at random MerCruiser 454 Mag. Bravo (Gen. V) GM 454 V-8 1995-1996 Engine Mounting Parts |
And it's not a 'stringer' that it's bolted to. More like an engine 'bed' , a separate structure from the stringers. Stringers should run the majority length of the hull. That thing doesn't .

they are called stinger blocks for alot of the production side boats

If so, I guess to be able to see that stringer I will have to cut an inspection hole into the floor. Thanks, Russ |

Well without knowing the boat.....the box it's self may be the stringer. Hard to tell in your picture how the boat is built. The picture above is of a 1970 Monza I re-did a few years back. As you can see the boxes them selves are the stringers with nothing more then 1/4 plywood for structure. |
