Remote Oil mount - Vertical HP6A

All,

I'm in a jam here. Does anyone make the vertical oil filter head/mount to accomodate an HP6 filter? I bought a "fancy" new setup to run a log off the side for all the sending units and turn the filter vertical instead of horizontal, only to realize before installing that it is an HP4 size filter head. Does anyone make the bigger mount to accommodate the bigger filter? This is off Keith Eickert website. Boat is all torn apart, waiting on a solution until I can put it all back together.....

The Hardin bulkhead is a vertical mount. There is a fancy bracket for it as well and if you need it upside down you just flip the bulkhead as it’s a two bolt mount

Yeah, I appreciate that. The unit I bought is the lower left two pictured. Problem is, there is an o-ring connection on the "out" port for the sending unit log, attached to the filter head with 4 screws. Unique to that system.

I think I've determined that I will run the size "4" filters for now, instead of trying to accomodate the size "6" filter as my original setup had.

Does anyone know if someone makes a screw on adapter to convert a "4" filter to a size "6" filter? Would be a simple fix here... Back to the drawing board on that one.

The Hardin unit does have an 1/8” fip port on it for temp or pressure senders. It also comes with an adapter to run the HP4 or HP6 filter. I’d contact Hardin and ask if that thread adapter is available separately.

You can see the treaded adapter here.

Thanks for that too. I have those adapters. Problem is, the sealing surface on the new unit is smaller in diameter and doesn't even come close to touching the o-ring on the HP6 filter. Would be nice if there was an adapter that screwed on, sealed the smaller diameter "4" sized head with an o-ring, then had a bigger diameter sealing surface to contact the HP6 filter.

HP6 on left, "new" HP4 on right.

I will run the size 4 filter for now. Make my own adapter when I have time, spin it on, and run the 6 filter later. Problem solved, i guess.....

like the top of this filter setup, pretty simple, and add spanner wrench grooves to install/tighten it.

That’s a nice looking filter. Is your main goal trying to add more oil capacity?

I’m personally on a search for an HP6 with a tight enough filter rating to break an engine on. So far the #6 filters flow more for racing with a pretty high micron pass rating.

I was just checking a picture of my remote mount and I think it's just a Mercruiser unit with some angle brackets to mount it to the transom.

Baja -
Original rigging from builder was setup as HP6 filter, was trying to keep it "as-is", but seems that not alot of people are running size 6 setups? Or at least the product I chose to go with, doesn't offer that model/size. Yes, trying to run more "flow", I get what you're saying regarding the micron ratings.
