Where to dump excess water?
My port motor is back in the boat, and I’ve installed water pressure relief valves to prevent seepage past the outer head gasket seal. I’m trying figure out where to dump the water, and have come up with these choices: 1. Install 3/4 thru hulls in the transom and dump out the back. 2. Add two more 3/4 thru hulls next to the bilge pump thru hulls on the starboard side (advantage is that I can see them in operation, but that side is already busy with outlets). 3. Connect into the junction of my headers/tail pipes (can that even work?). Suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! |

The less holes in the transom the better. go out the side . |
I think that's the direction I'm leaning.

Mine go out the side on the Playboy Boat. You can see them working. When I had the white top gun I dumped the inter cooler water out the transom directly on top of the 3A Drives. Instant Drive Shower and Cooler. Just a thought. |
If it's not through wood the stern is just as good as the side.

I dump mine out the back of the standoff box onto the top and sides of the drive upper housing.
NO chalk on my drive. Now I just need to rig up a setup to spray water on the sides of the lower to keep the lower housing cool. |

Thanks guys.
I'm going to add them to pair that are handling the bilge pumps. I really didn't want to drill into the transom. |
One quick add-on question... by lowering water pressure, will the motors be at risk of developing steam pockets? Never an issue it seems (head gaskets looked great, and no scoring or other concerns on cylinder walls), but wanted to ask. I've added the pressure relief valves because I had strong evidence of seepage past the head gaskets on the outsides of the block (both motors).

I’m putting in two separate dumps next to the two bilge pump outlets. I’m not tapping into the existing lines.
