280 k plane oil fitting question

Does anyone know offhand what the thread size is for the thru hull oil fitting? I'm looking for the size of the course side that screws into the transom plate...9/16-12 is very close but it just doesn't seem to fit very well?

Any insight would be appreciated thanks!!
