Just to put an ending to this thread a few years later. I bought a 496 HO and dropped it in, max speed is 59-60 MPH. The stroker was close. Lighter if anything. I am assuming the haul is not built for speed or it needs more push. I may drop in a 900 hp Build this summer. its a 597 Cu in, Whipple. That should push the b*tch out of the water LOL

Old Skool thinking. Not so wrong with single plenum intakes...but you wil choke the engine with a small carb with a dual plane intake.

600CFM Carb where half (300cfm) is feeding half the engine. Even a 350. Once the air velocity gets too high...it completely chokes off the flow.

The dual plenum openings between plenums were a band-aid fix, not addressing the real issue...of not enough flow from half the carb....solution...make the carb bigger.

You are not wrong, most 350s would come with 600cfm carbs.
