Calling 496 gurus. Fault 36 - Sea Pump block/high pressure

So I have a new to me 2004 Fountain 27 Fever with a single 496HO and 340 hours on it.

I've been getting an alarm recently. I scanned it with the Rinda and got code 36 for sea pump pressure.

The engine never gets above 170 degrees and water pressure is what I would say normal(mid teens @ 3500rpm)

So far I've flushed the heat exchanger, installed new end cap gaskets, flushed both risers via the hoses that attach to the bottom of the heat exchanger, and replaced the pressure sensor located just off the sea pump housing.

What has me stumped is it will alarm with the key on engine off. Also when I clear the codes that code never goes away(this is what had me thinking sensor was bad).

What's my next step? Wiring to the sensor is bad?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to check the block pressure value tonight and see if it changed at all with the new sensor.

Since you have a new sensor, compare the reistance between the new and old before you install.

Thanks for the diagram. I'm going to test it tonight and see what I get.

The Rinda reads 43.4psi with the key on and engine off using either sensor.

I also noticed that the Lake/Sea temp in the Rinda reads 431 degrees(Not sure if this is an unused feature or what)https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0cdadc5346.jpg

your water pressure sensor connector is bad or its wiring itself is shorted or both. It has defaulted because of that. And sea water temps means nothing unless you have that sensor on a paddle wheel to monitor that temp. BUT when its not installed the sea water temp --- it defaults to highest parameter that was set in the PCM.

If your water pressure connector and all wiring check out good - then internally your issue is in the PCM. A internal PCM fix will be needed. I have fixed many

Have to back up a bit or if you bought he 20 thru 50 bucks water pressure online that are from China especially all over EBAY . Good luck with those. Those are complete junk and one will have issues because of them.

And please check part nummber from sensor.
I try in my an 8M6000623 (8M6000626)sensor that can found on many smartcraft engines.
Work not on my motor.Better it work but start with over 30psi when only ignition is on.
I nee 881879T11 that look exact same but must have other output signal.

As BUP say, dont buy this ****ing lowprice china sensors.Near all did not work.

john, you may remember saving my vacation last year from the exact same issue. Same scanner readings and all. When I checked the connector and found the ground was open. You helped me get the correct connector for the harness and while changing it out I found the wire slightly above the connector was broken inside. Thanks again for your help. Awesome info got us back on the water. Scott

Found some corrosion in the connector. Cleaned out out and I'm still getting the alarm key on engine off. Do I need to reset the codes with the scanner(gave it back to my buddy Sunday) or will the code clear on it's own once it's fixed?
