Valve train noise 525 efi after top ends

Just got done top ends on one of my 525 efi. Replaced heads with pre assembled dart pro 1 heads. Replaced lifters with crane long travel lifters, measured and installed .250" longer pushrods from liberty, installed and adjusted harland sharp 1.7 s2001 rockers to 1 turn after zero lash. Issue I am having is after running for approx 45min total, the valve train is clicking/rattling pretty bad and it is not normal. Almost sounds like lifter noise but it is def coming from under valve covers. Removed both covers, inspected for loose components or rocker-to-cover contact. Everything looks perfect. Anyone have any input on my issue??

One turn is little much for Cranes. I know Crane used to say 3/4 turn to get .040 of preload.
I'd run the engine with the valve covers off. You should be able to narrow it down then.
Just because the stuff is new does not mean it can't be defective.

The crane sheet says 1/2 to 1 turn, .040-.060 preload. 7/16-20 rocker studs would mean that 1 turn is .050". I'm going to give scorpion marine endurance rockers a try this weekend. Thanks for the response!

Are you sure the lifters were on the base circle of the cam when setting the preload, I dont think the rockers are the issue

Makes me sick to my stomach when I read people having issues with brand new lifters. I relive the troubles we had with the morels 2 years ago. Hope you get it figured out!!

Any evidence on the push rods that the guides aren’t exactly adjusted? Or one of the set screws didn’t get tightened enough? Just throwing ideas out there.

the pushrods do have a tiny bit of wear from the guides, no gouging or anything. The guides are set with pushrods in the center of them. All polylocks and lifter studs marked after torquing/lash setting and none moved when rechecking everything. No sign of rockers hitting anything either.

zero lash
Some find zero lash different then others. Never done a 525, but zero to me is when there is no up/down movement, but turning the rod can still be done. Others do zero as when rod cannot be turned

Are you sure the rockers aren't hitting valve covers? Have you run it with valve covers removed?
