Not that i dont mind spending the bucks, mostly time. kind of busy and labor time would be prob less than half considering intake and everything above it, and also rings, honing, gasket scraping(i hate doing that). haha. Hey our winters done here in Lake charles, near the gulf coast, are mild. We run usually thru November and start in March. So i want my boat !!! |

i am pulling the motor. Brother has a lift and motor stand so we can turn it over to work on it. Spend the few extra dollars. Like stated, there is a chance you might regret not doing it. |
I have done it a few times on my own boats. Under 500hp. |

Yes It Can Be Done , but if you have a Knock , and Metal shavings .... You want to strip it and clean it , the parts cost will be less
than a weekends worth of fuel. |
And pull the oil pan first - to check the contents in the pan. If you turn the engine upside down to pull the pan then whatever settled in the pan most likely will not be in there.
I always like to pull the pan first to check all that and cut open OIL FILTERS to SEE how bad things are or not Also do not forget to buy NEW OIL coolers. if any internal engine parts let go . |
