Engine alarm died on port engine
After reinstalling my engines I ended up conecting the big roune electric plug for the engine wrong: I must have turned it 1/3 of a turn to one side. I tried to fire the engine with no luck. After a long scearch I finally found the problem and put the plug in the way it was meant to be. Now the engine alarm is dead and I canīt find the problem. Can anybody help ???
The boat is a 1989 Top Gun Thanks Jesper |
Unsure of the wiring on your boat but---------just connect the alarm for the other motor and see if it works.
Putting power on a system that is looking for a ground will normally "cook" that component. Most troubleshooting that involves 1 engine in a twin can be easily traced down by using parts off "good"engine. Just be aware of the risk of having to buy both parts if you screw up the "good engine part" swapping. I have had times when an electrical unit goes out on the engine that runs my powersteering, and robbing the part off the good engine to get me home and still have steering. |
Thanks for your input. I have already tryied to swap them around and the alarm works fine so the problem must be somewhere else.

The Mercathode box is a junction point for the alarm system.
