Water lift mufflers

Has anyone used water lift mufflers in a performance application?

i have seen some pictures and references to the Parvey’s Black Thunder having some type of water jacketed mufflers in the engine compartment, but everything else I find is on Searay cruisers

In the '80s, my Dad fabricated a set of Stainless Exhaust manifolds for a friend's SBC powering a Volvo 280.

They were Log style, and fed into an inner transom mounted muffler, then fed to through hull ports.

It was a wet muffler system, and worked great.

Though, the muffler being 'wet', precluded the requirement for a jacketed muffler system, saving complexity and weight.

It is amazing how little water is required to draw down heat and temps when atomized a little.

are you talking about what inboards and wake boats USE ?

Are you meaning these or ??

Yes similar to what inboards use, “water trap”, “water lift”, not sure what’s in wakeboard I have not been in many.

something like what centek makes, not the in-line ones, the ones where the exhaust and water dump into a chamber, and then exit up and out then through the hull.

I have very, very low mounted engines and I don’t like relying on a flapper to keep water out of my engines, and I could use some more drop to help with reversion. Not trying to make it more quiet. I was considering Fabing some stainless ones but I haven’t seen them on a performance application, a lot more heat and flow than they are typically used for.

basically all wake boats have these. I have many wake boats in for service so I can snap a couple pics as well. Is this what you are asking about ?? If so watch out buying used water mufflers / box because some are cracked from not winterizing properly. Many do not know how to drain them completely.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...91694f8b89.jpg

Yes something similar to that, if you have pictures of how they run the exhaust from the muffler then out of the hull that would be great!

i am very reluctant to buy used parts these days, most end up being junk. I can’t find any that are 3” in/out much less dual 3” in, so I imagine I will be custom fabbing them if I go that route.

here one I installed not long ago and always test any new product for water against leaks. Old one had a leak so I had to install a new one. - and of course cut the necks to fit as wellhttps://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...808c784213.jpg
