2020 Corvette - Did Mercury do the engine?
How much of this did Mercury do or was it clean sheet GM? "The 2020 C8R has a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank dual-overhead-cam V-8 that generates 500 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque." This isnt the stock engine. Looks like it will be in the ZR1 or Z06 package.
Been following the new vette release and going to see the C8R at Petit this weekend. This thing is a whole new breed!

the 1990-95 ZR1 had a mercury racing built DOHC engine. I believe the engine was designed by LOTUS but Mercury racing did all machining and assembly and dyno testing of the engines. Not sure about the current stuff....

The guy running Lingenfelter out of Decator Ind came from Lotus and worked at Mercury to head up the early 90s ZL! engine program. When GM stop using that motor he replaced John Lingenfelter when he was killed drag racing.
The new 5.5 has nothing to do with Merc. I have a deposit on either the ZO6 or ZR1, depending on which one gets the twin turbos, so I have been following this as much as I can.
