Default 1075 to custom power

I'm looking at a boat that was originally rigged with merc 1075's (now pulled), if I buy it, I want to install my 1000 hp Eickerts. So my question is, what all would I need to change with the harnesses? Would I need to only change the engine side of the harness, or would I need to rewire the boat from the engine to the gauges?

does the boat side have a mil spec plug?ones I've seen do,,so you'd need at least the engine side harness and go from there.

Pretty vague question, does the engine harness come with the boat, is it carb or EFI,

Here is what I’m after-

i believe my 525 EFI engines send all the data via Smartcraft signals up to a digital to analog box, then that data goes to the Livorsi gauges.

I would expect the 1075 to work the same way, when I asked the owner of the boat he said the Smartcraft data only goes to the smartcraft display. The Livorsi gauges get there data straight from the engine sensors. This makes no sense that it would be wired like that.

So there has to be a standard way the 1075 engines are wired. The Eickert engines I will use, will be updated to the latest efi whipple setup. I have no clue what computer I will use to run the efi, but that shouldn’t matter.

What i want to know, is will I have to rewire the entire boat because I’m not going to run smartcraft! My current engine have the 9 pin harness. The boat has whatever they used for the 1075 in 2010.

2010 will have the 14 pin military style twist lock connectors. Analog gauges are getting there signal from a box that is plugged into the smartcraft. You will have to run new 10 pin harnesses in the boat.
1075’s use multi pin 5v reference sensors that report to the ecm.

Thanks, I thought it was going to be more work than just changing out the engine harness.

Mercury makes an adapter to go from 9 to 14 pin. Your gauges sould be analog, up under your dash you should find the box that converts it from digital back to anolg.
shouldn't be that big of deal

I think they only have 9/10 pin boat side to 14 pin engine. I have a couple of those and couldn’t find a part number for the other way.

Ok since we seem to have a couple people on this thread who know what they’re talking about, I will ask here. I am going to convert from my old (circa 2008) Smartcraft screen to a new Simrad Go9. What am I going to need parts wise to make this happen and what am I getting into wiring wise?
