174 on a Small block?
Has anyone here ever modified a 174 blower to fit a small block?
For instance, they don't make an intake manifold for the small block or a snout. It looks like the 144 intake might work with some minor modifications? Will need a shorter snout perhaps from something else?. Anyone with first-hand experience? Thanks in advance! |
I don’t know if this is what you are looking for? https://www.carid.com/1967-chevy-cam...331501762.html. |
Yep - that is what he is looking for.
But, you can use a 144 intake and have an adapter plate made for it. Minimum 1/2" thick, preferably 3/4" thick. You can decide front-to-back where to lock it down to make the pulley and belt situation work for you. |

If it's too much work I'll have a 174 Supercharger, Intercooler, BBC intake and pulleys for sale. |

I'll say it again...
An adapter plate is probably $100 from a local machine shop. With that in mind, you can use whatever sbc intake you find for a blower larger than 142 up to 250, you can select a low profile intake or a standard profile intake. You can find sbc intakes for 177 blowers, 250 blowers, and 142 blowers. Then you use an adapter plate. The mismatch between the blower outlet and the intake inlet can be tapered or fudged if it makes you feel better, but it isn't imperative. Belt length will need to be determined after everything is mounted up. The low profile 142 intake would be a good choice as far as I'm concerned. |
4 years later, hey Panther, did that ever work placing a 177 on a small block 142 intake
