if your asking ME,,,,,

82 mph 4 people on boat ,,full tank gas,,,pretty flat water..
and this is a V bottom,,no steps

and as to the weight question,,would be pretty easy to figure out...
less people or less gas..

Boy, oh boy....... EVERYBODY knows the classic response to that question!! ( emoji )...... The bank manager waiting at the bank entry door, when he/she heard that you want to go faster........

But it is the correct question !!

Some hulls just aren't built for speed, some get really dangerous, some go like hell, some have died trying in the wrong boat.

Yea, tell me about it...... My early years with Howard Arneson ........ Most hulls were not prepared for our "new-found" speeds !!

......... Chime walking....... A lot of chime-walking....... This is when Howard massaged the hulls / K-plane designs, to a success.....
Then, 'Ahhhhh'..... Cat hulls....... !!!!!

The other side of the coin of massaged props, light fuel runs, no passengers and whatever else it takes to claim a magical mystery top number....if your daily boating set-up is to run with 1/2 tanks of fuel and 4 people and the boat runs 55, 65 or 85mph - that's all it is in reality except for in Shootout trim. (Nothing wrong with that either)

As already stated, the art of speed is every minute detail and factor involved to doing it safely. Darwin awards are filled with the just add HP theory.
