Air Intake Manifold or Riser Gaskets?

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I have a 5.7L IB/OD in a 1988 Seaswirl 21'. I just did a re-power and trying to get everything buttoned up. I start the engine, and it starts to steam. I had to install the intake manifold and risers my self. The heads came installed on the crate engine. I have no water in the oil, The only places I can think of letting water in is the air intake gasket, or riser/elbow gasket.

Can anybody offer any insight on to trouble shooting this issue? Id like to try the riser gasket first before tearing off the air intake manifold. Trying to avoid doing both......

Thank you for your time,

RC

Some more info would be helpful as well. What type of exhaust manifolds and risers are they? Does it ever go away?

Thanks for the reply. The manifolds are the stock log style with the elbows at the rear. The risers are stock OMC. The steam never goes away - it increases as the engine warms.

How cold is it where you are?? Steam is not at all uncommon in cooler temps.
All my boats have always had a decent amount of steam when temps get into the low 70's or below.

Thanks.

I replaced both risers and manifold gaskets yesterday. I'll let you know if I see a change.

no steam!

64F, low humidity. New intake manifold gasket and riser gaskets, stopped the water somewhere.

intake gaskets have a stainless core, and I made the elbows at the manifolds flush with a sanding block.

thanks you for the input.
