Mark do you guys also sharpen the hose clamps with an angle grinder like everyone else.. Just kidding. Seeing all those clamps reminds me of how I get cut by them every time I do work on the motor or bilge...lol...

O - now I see. It wouldn't hurt to pull the fitting and have someone machine a section to give you a lip. We do that all the time when we make fittings.

On some clamps i just put a blob of silicone. Works pretty good, stays on.
Got a 2" long "cat scratch" from working on the motor yesterday. Haha. |
Resurrecting and old thread...the same (starboard, outboard) cooling hose (starboard thermostat to exhaust manifold) popped off again today during a speed run.
I tried double hose clamps, but I believe that I really do not have enough pipe to get the second hose clamp to bite (So it probably put additional pressure on the one "good" hose clamp. This time, I roughed up the metal with sandpaper and the used Permatex Black Gasket sealer and a hose clamp. I am surprised that (with all these ~28 hose clamps on two motors) only this one seems to be giving me issues??? Does anyone have a link to a wider/stronger/upgrade for this hose clamp? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f740a8d02e.jpg |
Anybody using/recommend these for more clamping force?

It looks like somebody possibly welded an an extension onto the end of that T. They normally have a lip on the end. I would have somebody weld a small ridge on the end

What kind of water pressure are you running ? to blow hoses off
