New guy with 383 and cam questions

Hello I am new and have read a ton of posts. Seems everyone has a different opinion or suggestion and the boats are all different sizes and weights. I have looked at Blueprint, Raptor, ATK and others for cam specs. Seems all advertised numbers are not exectly what out of the box cams are.

I have an 06 20' Glastron with 305 and volvo drive. The kids are getting bigger and wakeboarding and skying. This boat is awesome for me and what we do I just want some more torque and speed.

I have an older 350 two piece rear main I was going to build. I think I'm going with a Scat rotating assembly. For the heads probably Dart SHPAluminum 72cc/180cc 2.02/1.60.

I also don't know about wet exhaust or dry exhaust. Eventually I will be going thru hull with Corsa Capt Call. So Cam suggestions are needed.

With a 21 alum prop we go 52-55 (GPS) just 5000. I know ill pick up some speed for sure but also wanting that out of the hole grunt.

Thank you

My opinion, if you are buying a rotating assembly, make it a 383 for sure, it costs the same and it will give you what you want. Cam, hydraulic roller, 224/ 230, 112 lsa

Thanks for the reply

I should’ve stated I am doing a 383 and the cam was what was in question. Would this cam net me 400+ torque. I should’ve also mentioned that my goal was that as well.

thanks again

You may want to take a look at the GM crate 383 specs, sounds like that's what you're looking for. I think it's 425 HP 450 torque.

I would second this. 112-114 LSA, hyd roller highly recommended. 6.0" rods.

Thanks for the input. Looking to buy today I think. Why the 6" vs 5.7"? I see Scat has a nice rotating assembly thats balanced and had dish pistons with 6" rods. Depending on heads it will get me around 9:1 give or take.
Thanks

More dwell at TDC and BDC. Also less wear on the cyl wall as the piston isn't trying to be pushed through it as hard

The guy is trying to pump up his SBC in the technical Q&A forum because his kids are getting bigger. You tell him to get out of here because his boat isn’t long enough. We are boaters, this isn’t a country club Judge Smails.
