Are you sure the alt is loosened all the way? Is the belt sitting in the pulleys/grooves? Are you sliding around a shoulder less/ non ribbed pulley last? How short are you?

I measured to old belt and the new belt. The old belt is 111 1/4 inches. The new belt, Quick Sliver part# is 57-865615Q01, is 111 inches. When I research it on the web, and the retailer lists the length, they list it as 2830mm which is 111.4 inches. This should be longer than what I have, but it's shorter!!

Stupid question, don't get mad at me, but I have to ask. Did you back the nut off on the back side of the alt adjuster bolt? You can see it in your picture.
|
This is beyond ridiculous. I just went though two sierra belts trying to pry them on. The merc belts are the same way. I went to napa, they do not have belts by the lenght! A 5 minute job is taking me all week every night and I ruined 3 belts and probably my alternator pulleys!! CRAZY!! I'm seriously loosing it now.

Using Dayco site, and would figure you need at least 2 inches longer, up to maybe 4 (would depend on how long the ALT adjustment bolt is, divide by 2)
506 = belt with 6 ribs and is .82 wide next 4 numbers is length 5061123 = 112.25 inch 5061130 = 113 inch 5061134 = 113.385 inch 5061143 = 114.25 inch There is also a Gates site but if you find it at Dayco it can be crossed, just search the part number http://www.daycoproducts.com/online-...114&num_ribs=6 |

First Thank you!! Does it matter what the profile is on the ribs? The list you showed me shows a "w" profile. Is that okay. Mine are just round or square.
Should be able to go to NAPA or other and give them a dayco number and if they have it then compare |
