Drive ratio

I have a 1.50 bravo1 with an XR lower. I’ve had a lot of stuff apart in my day but never an outdrive. From what I’m reading, the gearing is in the upper of a bravo but in the lower of an XR. So how does this work when an XR lower is on a bravo upper? How do I know my ratio? Trying to figure prop slip.

There’s 3. XR lower ratio’s

1.5 Is a 15/19 tooth count

1.35 is a 15/17 tooth count

1.26 is a 17/18 tooth count

the XR upper and the 1.5 bravo basically are the same ratio (1.18)

If you have a 1.5 bravo upper, your ratio would be what’s listed above, you would need to know your lower tooth count to determine which ratio you have

so I’d have to take apart to know true ratio? 🤦🏼‍♂️

The only other thing you can do without disassembly is to shift the drive into gear, rotate the input shaft of the drive and count how many rotations of the input shaft it takes to get 1 rotation of the prop shaft,

One and a half is a 1.5, one and a third is a 1.35 and one and a quarter is a 1.26

you can only rotate the input shaft counterclockwise (if viewing it from the rear )otherwise the clutch won’t lock up
