Adding oil coolers
Thinking about adding oil coolers to my 350 mags since I run them extremely hard. Would it be worth it?
|
What are the oil temps now when running hard? That’s the question.

no idea but the pressure drops to about 10-15 psi after a hard run and slowly goes back up to 20-25psi after about 5 minutes of idling.

Put a temp gauge on it to find out. Easiest place is the remote oil filter, just remove a plug and install the sender.

If you don`t know what the oil temps are how can you make a decision about adding coolers?

I have to agree with the general consensus...think of all the R&D money that was poured into the engine, in part to ensure longevity...which gives a good reputation but also avoids costly warranty repairs. So...if the factory didn't put oil coolers on...essentially didn't see the need...then I'd hesitate to introduce them. Just another spot to have some sort of issue.
My '92 Baja 208 Islander has a cooler...my 2000 252...I don't believe so. At least not in the same respect as the 208. Same engine, basically. Go figure. |
if the factory didn't put oil coolers on...essentially didn't see the need Factory only needs to make it past the warranty period |

Nothing against the comment, just an addition

Oil coolers and rev limiters are for pussies.
