Oil pan recommendation
 
I’m building 540s with 3.3 Whipples and looking for oil pan recommendations.

OFFSHORE

Designed for multi-engined race boats or deep V hulls that require an under engine mounting cradle. Built from heavy duty 16 gauge steel to withstand severe racing conditions. Baffling designed for 100% oil control, has provision for oil temperature sender and dual watertight, screw-in dipstick locations for mounting either side.

Mk IV / V & Gen VI will fit 4 1/2" stroke with most aluminum rods.
Pan Capacity is 12 Qts. Plus Filter
5" Front,9 1/2" Deep Rear Sump 396-454 Mark IV ('65-'90) 31560t, Milodon.

I would avoid that pan or anything built similar, I dynoed a 540 WITH a whipple 3.3 with that exact pan (customer picked it and supplied it), worked good on the dyno BUT the metal was very thin, where it was welded it was even thinner and I am almost certain over time it WILL crack. Was very flimsy and thin, Smitty

do you have any recommendations Smitty?

I have a Dan Olson on my motor. He makes a good pan.

Get the deepest pan possible (14qt) so you don`t aeration of the oil and the falling oil pressure that comes with it .

That`s my suggestion.
I have the above pan , it`s been welded on without issues , it`s is well constructed

Steffs make a nice pan also, check them out.
