BBC 427 roller cam
looking for input for my vette, any suggestions on a roller cam ? Ive talked to Lunati and they suggested the 20110710 but dont think its got enough rpm's 262/270 I .550 E.550 112 split 1400-5400 rpm, I still need enough vacuum for the head light system, no power brakes tho
TIA |
Speedy, are your intentions to do a close to stock engine rebuild with a somewhat stock roller profile? The stock cams were pretty tame, and yes you need good vacuum.
Try Bullet Cams see what they say/recommend. I rebuilf my 66 427/390 vette a few years back went with a Crain retro cam flat tappet just because. But JMO maybe keep duration down to the 230-236 range 520ish lift |
I want something a little more than stock, I talked to Bullet, he was in the 240-248 ?

You may want to post advertised and .050 numbers to be able to compare. What compression ratio are you going to run, what heads, what intake, what exhaust ? automatic, manual, gear ratio ? would all help
The engine will have all stock components ,close ratio M-21 4 speed, 373 gear, 10.25 compression, 2 1/2 exhaust..no power brakes
So are you thinking solid or hydraulic roller ?
2 or 4 bolt mains, cast or forged internals, oval, rectangle or peanut heads ? are you going to run stamped or roller rockers ?
its a 2 bolt block, I plan on running the stamped steel roller tip rockers to fit under the OE valve covers, Its an all stock rotating assembly with new K Black forged pistons, the heads are stock oval port closed chamber heads..............Im not trying to build a TF engine......
