I say run it. What do you have to lose if thats what your wanting to do. If your scared of compression and want to lower it some you could always pull the heads and go with a fatter head gasket. Im not an expert and would check on that first from a machine shop. All in all I so go for it if your up to the challenge.

You have the motor, you have the skill, it has a knock sensor, plenty of cooling available, multiple timing tables, it would sound awesome at full rip. How about leaving the engine compartment open for now so you can use a set of truck manifolds upside-down with a little stack so you can get it going as proof of concept? |

I built a very similar motor, but with a texas speed 224r cam instead of the ls9 cam for my Jeep wrangler. I fought cooling issues for a long time after I got that motor in. Its now got a massive aluminum radiator and like 3500 cfm worth of fan to keep it cool.
Water routing to your engine, and engine to exhaust matters as the LS is different hear than standard sbc/bbc. Start looking up Corey331. He ran into snd figured out many things. |

WOW, there is so much information on this site. I think I read through 100+ pages of great LS information. Im almost ready to commit to this project, just need to nail down a timeline so I don't go boatless this summer.
Plan: -Use the motor as is. -Crusader manifolds to stock y pipe and through prop -Cooled via the alpha drive but unsure of distribution. Thinking stock truck water pump with a remote thermostat -Fuel injected with the fuel tank modified for an in-tank pump -Stock computer with cut down harness and tuned via HP tuners I think I have the major components, minus the manifolds and thermostat to make that happen. Im sure there's something im forgetting and all the little things are going to add up, but thats a project. |
