Running into guide plate issues. I have Dart adjustable guide plates (recommended by AFR back in the day) but the adjustment nut on the. Ottom limits travel. If it isn’t one thing it’s another, lol. I have some factory Gen VI guide plates that I might give a try.

I think I have the pushrods figured out. Once the guide plates are stable, I’ll mock it back up to see if they’re still coming out the same.

I had the same problem. I just put the bolt in with the nut on the top side of the guide plate.

I thought about doing that. I read in another engine building forum that a person with the exact issue replaced the screw with a button-head and flipped it so the nut was on top. I guess he did this so that he could adjust on the engine. It'll just be more of a tedious process.

Problem solved.

I'll mock it up at lunchtime.

I took my guide plates, cut them in the middle,,adjusted them perfectly, then tig'd them.numbered them and was able to keep them in the same position after a tear down.

I’ve contemplated welding them but with the way these go together and bend while tightening under the stud, I feel they may crack. I think I’ve got it figured out though. I flipped the screws, aligned each guide plate, and then tightened them up. They were still a pain to align.
