Offshoreonly.com - 1993 XR6 idle stabilization/Lync and sync question

1993 XR6 on my 16 Donzi

Posted this on S&F but figured I'd cross post here....

I have followed manual to the T on the Lync and sync and want to confirm that If I've disconnected the white/black wire coming out of the idle stabilizer at the connector (which is after the switch boxes) have I truly disabled the idle stabilization feature?

I guess the reason I ask is with the wire unplugged or plugged in I get the same idle timing reading at cranking speed. Does the box advance timing at cranking speed or does the motor need to be running?
