ITS oil transfer passage

I need to replace the plastic drive oil passage that goes though the ITS gimble. When I pulled the helmet off to install the SCX helmet I noticed the nipple on the drive side was broken. Has anyone successfully replaced this with the gimble assembly still in the boat?

I’ve heard some have been able to. If it’s your forward motor you should be able to get at it. A friend also sent me a bookface link a while back about a guy who was making brass replacements.

My engines are out, so that will help, but it still looks tight. A brass replacement would be awesome, the fact they made this out of plastic is stupid. I'm planning on working on the boat next weekend, so I'll have remove the inner transom plate and see what it looks like in there.

If you remember who sells the brass replacement let me know. I'd much rather use that vs the plastic mercury part.

link should work, if not message me and I can add and tag you on the post. Engines out isn’t bad... I pulled the water inlet tube for more room and and also had my through drive exhaust y pipes off. just resealed and installed that. But everything was done with long reach needle nose and flat blades and picks... and if you drop something it catches in the bottom of the its transom and easily recovered :)

Luckily I don't have a y-pipe to work around, it's just deep in the ITS box. I'm happy to hear I shouldn't have to pull the assembly off the boat to replace this.

I joined the FB group, once approved I'll dig around and see if I can find the brass replacement option. I did see IMCO has a brass fitting, but I't appears it is different from the Merc piece.
