EQ CH454A Heads
 

i have been looking at new heads for a while now and the eq's seem to bee the best bang for the buck, after reading info on these heads im unclear as to if you can use them on the Gen V and the Gen VI motor , with regards to the water passages etc, I have 500HPs carb motor and it seems like good up grade with the 741 cam. what springs are being used with this cam, what benefits would the heads have with the stock 500hp cam.

After what I just dealt with refreshing set of EQ heads that needed all new guides and seats after 300 hrs on a 741 cam'd engine I'm not a big fan. Guide material was wrong and the seats all sunk. Cost us a lot more in time and money on what should have been just a regular valve job and spring swap. Deck surface was also out of square and needed to be milled.

Know a lot of folks that run those without issues.

They will make some good power and be reliable in salt if that’s the water you run in. I’d start with bare castings and build to suit. Issues with guides and seats can be taken care of out of the gate if you choose.
