What kind of ignition you currently using. Varies with rpm, load, wot.

I've always found 30 degrees is safe, 32 degrees if you're on a dyno or reading AFRs to watch it. There are "rules" about 1-2 degrees per 1lbs. per pound of boost and all that, but I've run numerous supercharged engines (intercooled and not) at 30 degrees total and they loved it. As said above, with load, you don't really want it all in too early. Should be at total around 3600 rpm. This is just old racer stuff.

If you are looking to make power, around 35 deg. I set up my last blower motor to take out 1 deg of timing for every pound of boost above 5# and 5000rpm. The Daytona Sensors ignitions work so well for this, I don't know why anyone would run anything else unless it is EFI

I recall joe “Mild Thunder” had his Daytona Sensors mapped really well for his blown 468’s. I remember I was a bit surprised the advance at wot etc. Was a good thread or post.

Otherwise maybe dan “icdedpple” will chime in. With the newer advanced ignitions systems available today one can fine tune so much better than that of yesteryears!

And tailer to your own specific needs.

Mild Thunder had a really cool write-up on his system. It did run some higher numbers, maybe 34 at full boost?. Snapmorgan is dead on. I didn't realize OP had Daytons. 30 degrees was on the "assumption" the OP was using stock Dist with an Msd box that didn't have that kind of spark control capability, kind of old school! :drink:

From there (safety) you can play with it, creep it up a bit at a time. You have the chiller, so that helps. Like Snapmorgan said, 35 is generally safe to 5#, 1 to 2 degrees out at 6-7#, should be right on the money without a computer to telling you what's happening.

You wanna be careful around your peak TQ, too much timing there is death .

I don`t have my laptop handy but this is what I started with . Usually I`m at 35 at WOT and 28-29 peak TQ (4000rpm)
If I`m running 5 blade props that have a ton of cup and load the engine I have button that drops timing across the board a few degrees.

What's your WOT boost PSI? Your blower looks like it can crank out about whatever you wanted!

About 8 psi is all I`m comfortable with.
With the 10-71`s that was 4% overdriven so it had a lot more in it for sure

Good call with the button. Would make good sense especially when laboring under tucked in conditions.

IMO, you should easily be able to run 34* at WOT with that combo, but like was posted, bring the curve in gradually with full advance at around 4800-5000 rpms

Are you having issues keeping those Gaffrig mufflers clean and not tarnishing? I have had a he!! of a time. I'm sending them out to be professionally polished and then going to try a high temp ceramic coating.

No i use lime away and #000 steel wool shines them right up but do have stay on top of it.

Have you tried "gel" Lysol toilet bowl cleaner? Slather it on, drink a beer, hose it off. Super great on props too!
