Trim Indicator Issue

Put brand new trim indicator in Apache when redid and one side shows way down from other but boat runs flat and tabs look same on hoist. Can these be adjusted to equal out indicator.

tks

Got pics? I had to replace all of my cables for the trim and the tab indicators. The trim had to be adjusted since they were spring loaded. Basically, I put the motors all the way out, connected the indicator line, and then it was showing correct on the dash when I put the engines all the way in or out.

For me to adjust mine, it was basically loosening two hose clamp type devices and tightening when they were set correctly on the out drives.

Is the indicator for the drives or tabs? I am a little confused. Both are adjustable, but the procedure is different for both.

its the tabs drives work great

Tabs are different, but a bit easier in most cases.

If I recall this is a #6 boat, if so there are no external rams to adjust like a bravo

I think he's talking about the indicator cable that is attached to the tabs, not the rams themselves from the sounds of it.

that makes sense

Barnacle Bill 05-24-2021 01:22 PM

O.K. I can see what's going on with your tabs. They are connected to the indicator cable at a fixed point. I have the K-plane setup but it works pretty much the same. With the tas all the way down, unbolt/unhook the cable at the tab. Make sure that when you do this, you pull the end out until it's reading all the way down on the dash. Then, if it's the same, that end should tighten or shorten by screwing it in/out until it easily reaches the connection point on the tab. That's reading full down position at this point. Test it by raising it up and seeing what it reads.

That the simplest way I can describe the process.

True. I got my terminology mixed up. Tilt/trim on the outdrives. Tabs are the port/starboard stabilizers.

There is some adjustment where the cables connect to the ram. The bad news is that if there is not enough adjustment there, you need to adjust it at the indicator gauge and that is no fun.
